Legnica Police Release Images of Suspects in 17,000 PLN Fraud Case

Legnica police have released surveillance images of suspects involved in internet fraud cases that resulted in a 17,000 PLN loss for two local residents.

Investigation into Economic Crime

The Economic Crime Department of the Legnica Municipal Police, under the supervision of the Legnica District Prosecutor’s Office, is investigating fraud against two local residents. The total loss is reported to be 17,000 PLN.

The investigation indicates that the crimes involved internet-based fraud utilizing social engineering methods and the takeover of social media accounts.

Fraudulent Tactics Used

In one instance, a perpetrator hijacked a user’s account to message contacts requesting urgent payments via BLIK codes. In a second case, a seller was defrauded by an individual posing as a buyer who used a fraudulent link to steal funds.

Cash Withdrawals and Suspect Identification

Authorities determined that stolen funds were withdrawn from ATMs at Plac Konstytucji 6 in Warsaw and at ul. Okrzei 1 in Żyrardów. Analysis of surveillance material has identified the individuals in the images as the “receivers” of the money.

Public Assistance Requested

Police urge anyone who recognizes the individuals or has information to contact the Economic Crime Department in Legnica, referencing case number WR.183.RSD.148.2026. The officer in charge is asp. sztab. Joanna Szławieniec, reachable at 47 874 15 89.
