Lidl announced on 14 November that the “Pikok, Boczekrolowany, 100 g” product had been recalled. The withdrawal applies to batches with expiry dates from 17 to 24 November, identified by the lot number 2517061.
Product Details and Return Policy
Customers who purchased the recalled item are instructed not to consume the product. Returns are accepted at any Lidl store; receipts are not required for the refund or exchange process.
Listeria Contamination
The recall was prompted by the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in the bacon. Lidl and the supplier, Lukullus Sp. z o.o. Sp.k., apologized to consumers and affirmed that specialists continually monitor product safety.
Health Risks of Listeriosis
The Food Safety Authority warned that consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, especially without proper heat treatment, can cause listeriosis. The disease poses a serious threat to pregnant women, newborns, and immunocompromised individuals, who may experience fever, flu‑like symptoms, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, muscle aches, and sore throat. Older adults with weakened immune systems risk meningitis, encephalitis, brain abscesses, and sepsis, and some cases may be asymptomatic.
