A tram collision in central Łódź on April 3rd sent two passengers to the hospital with injuries, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Tram Derailment and Collision
The accident occurred on Friday, April 3rd, at 7:19 AM. Tram line 11 was turning right from Mickiewicza Street onto Kościuszki Street when the second car of the tram derailed and struck a tram on line number 2.
Injuries and Alcohol Tests
Two passengers were transported to the hospital: one with a head injury and another with a spinal injury. Police confirmed that both tram operators tested negative for alcohol.
Traffic Disruptions and Rerouting
The incident took place at the main Łódź Piotrkowska Centrum interchange, leading to numerous delays. MPK Łódź suspended tram traffic in both directions, diverting lines 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10A/B, 11, 12, 14, and 18.
Replacement Bus Service
MPK Łódź implemented a replacement bus service from Kościuszki/Mickiewicza to al. Kościuszki, continuing to the intersection of Zachodnia/Legionów via Kościuszki, 6-Sierpnia, Gdańska, Próchnika, and Zachodnia. Another route operated along al. Piłsudskiego from Przędzalniana Street to the Bandurskiego dw. Łódź Kaliska stop.
Restoration of Service
Service will resume once city services give their approval. MPK Łódź stated they will promptly clear the track section to minimize disruption.

The cause of the accident remains unknown and is being investigated by the police and a dedicated team.
