A long-term employee of Poland’s Ministry of National Defense was arrested Tuesday in Warsaw for allegedly cooperating with foreign intelligence.

On Tuesday, February 3, in the morning hours, an arrest took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense in Warsaw. According to the ministry, the detained person was charged with cooperating with a foreign intelligence service, and the case is being handled by the Military Counterintelligence Service.
The arrest occurred in the MON building on al. Niepodległości.
Investigation Process
The ministry emphasizes that operations are being carried out by the SKW, and during the arrest, the service cooperated with the Department for Military Affairs of the National Prosecutor’s Office and the Military Gendarmerie. According to MON, procedural activities are currently underway.
“We inform that today in the morning hours at the MON headquarters (al. Niepodległości, Warsaw) an arrest took place of a long-term employee of the national defense ministry. The person has been charged with cooperating with a foreign intelligence service. The case is being handled by the Military Counterintelligence Service, which during the arrest cooperated with the Department for Military Affairs of the National Prosecutor’s Office and the Military Gendarmerie. Currently, procedural activities are underway,” informs the Ministry of National Defense.
Employee Position and Speculations
The arrested person is reportedly a mid-level employee connected to the Department of Strategy and Defense Planning. Reports also suggest that the case may involve cooperation with Russian intelligence, but this does not appear in the MON communiqué.
The Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to the media that procedural activities are being carried out with the detained person in the military affairs department, and details are not being disclosed until their completion.
