Lufthansa Faces Further Strikes as Cabin Crew Join Pilots

Lufthansa is bracing for widespread disruption as cabin crew prepare to strike on Wednesday and Thursday, following a pilot’s strike ending Tuesday.

Lufthansa Cabin Crew Strike Announced

The UFO union has called on Lufthansa’s cabin crew to strike on Wednesday and Thursday. This potential strike follows a two-day pilot’s strike that concluded on Tuesday.

This will be the second cabin crew strike for Lufthansa this month, following a previous action on Friday. Negotiations regarding a collective bargaining agreement, impacting approximately 800 jobs, have stalled.

Strike to Impact Major Hubs

The UFO union is calling for protest action at all departures from Frankfurt am Main and Munich, Lufthansa’s two key hubs. This will likely cause significant disruptions at other airports, including routes to and from Poland.

Lufthansa Management Response

Lufthansa board member Michael Niggemann stated that the UFO union is “completely indifferent to the fate of our passengers and the future of Lufthansa” in response to the planned strike.

Pilot Strike Deepens Travel Chaos

A strike by Lufthansa pilots began on Monday and is scheduled to last until Tuesday, impacting tens of thousands of passengers.

Pilots previously protested in March for two days and on February 12th. On February 12th, over 800 flights were canceled, affecting approximately 100,000 passengers.
