Four bodies were discovered along the Swiss side of the Rhine on the morning of December 24, 2023, all belonging to one family, investigators say.

The remains of a 41‑year‑old Liechtenstein resident were found on the Swiss side of the Rhine in the town of Sevelen on the morning of Wednesday, 24 December. Around 16:30 the same day, three additional bodies were recovered from an apartment in Vaduz, Liechtenstein’s capital.
Family members identified
The bodies belong to a 73‑year‑old father, a 68‑year‑old mother, and a 45‑year‑old sister, all of whom lived in the same household. The 41‑year‑old man is the son of the deceased mother and father.
Investigation underway
Investigators are conducting a thorough inquiry into the cause of death and are exploring all possible scenarios. At present the cause remains unknown.
Potential triple murder suspected by media
Police have stated that no danger exists for the local population and that there is no expectation of additional victims. However, an unofficial portal has reported that, given the circumstances, a triple‑murder scenario is being considered by the media.
