Strait of Hormuz and US-Israel-Iran Ceasefire

The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil transport route, is linked to a two-week ceasefire announced late Tuesday/early Wednesday between the US, Israel, and Iran.

Defensive Mission in Cooperation with Iran

Approximately 15 countries are mobilized and planning the mission under French leadership, intended as a strictly defensive operation in cooperation with Iran to facilitate the resumption of shipping, Macron stated during a French defense and national security council meeting.

Conditions for Mission Launch

Macron indicated the mission would be launched “when the appropriate conditions are met,” specifically when the ceasefire is demonstrably observed.

Positive Reception of Ceasefire, Call for Lebanon Inclusion

During the meeting, Macron expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire between Iran and the United States and expects it to be upheld. He also urged that the ceasefire fully encompass Lebanon.
