Maduro Calls on U.S. to Join Him for Peace, Rejects Anticipation of War

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro urged the United States to join him in pursuit of peace on Thursday, saying he does not expect conflict with the U.S. while the carrier USS Gerald Ford sails nearby.

Maduro Asks U.S. Unity for Peace

In a speech on a Caracas rally, Maduro appealed to the United States to align with Venezuela in the name of peace for both Americas. He warned against extending a protracted conflict and called for an end to ongoing wars. The president emphasized the need for “spirit‑peace” in governing his country.

Maduro’s Message to President Trump

When asked about his stance toward President Donald Trump, Maduro replied in English, “yes, peace.” He declined to confirm any fear of U.S. aggression and focused solely on administering Venezuela peacefully. The statement highlighted Maduro’s desire to avoid a prolonged confrontation.

U.S. Carrier Deployment Near Venezuela

On 12 November, the U.S. Navy’s Gerald Ford aircraft carrier arrived in the Caribbean, marking an increase in American military presence near Venezuela. The ship carries more than four thousand sailors and dozens of combat aircraft, deployed at the Pentagon’s request. Washington says the mission aims to confront drug trafficking and other transnational threats.

U.S. Accuses Maduro of Illegal Rule and Drug Links

The Trump administration has labeled Maduro an illegal leader, alleging ties to drug cartels. Maduro denies these claims, asserting that the expanding U.S. forces along his coast represent a failed coup attempt against his government. Caracas accuses Washington of attempting to overthrow the Venezuelan president.
