MAJA FROM MŁAWA MURDER: MOTHER OF SUSPECT FACES 30 MILLION ZLOTY PENALTY, “JOKES ARE OVER”

Family of murdered teen seeks 30 million zloty penalty for mother of suspect, while Bartosz G. ordered for psychiatric evaluation.

Court Decision on Mother’s Posts

In July of last year, a petition for violation of the personal rights of Maja from Mława’s family was filed with the court in Płock. It concerned posts published on the internet by Katarzyna G., Bartosz G.’s mother, who is suspected of Maja’s murder.

Relatives of the murdered 16-year-old claim that Katarzyna G. published about 10,000 offensive posts. The court of first instance dismissed the petition, but in February, the Court of Appeal in Łódź considered the appeal and changed the ruling.

Based on the latest decision, Katarzyna G. could receive a penalty of 3,000 zlotys for each post.

30 Million Zloty Penalty Requested

Maja’s father’s representative, attorney Wojciech Kasprzyk, told ‘Fakt’ that he would submit a petition to the court regarding a penalty for Katarzyna G. – “The jokes are over, next week I will file with the court in Płock a petition for a threat of payment of 30 million zlotys by Bartosz G.’s mother” – he informed.

The lawyer pointed out that the woman did not stop publishing offensive posts after the latest court ruling. Recently, in just one day, she published 102 posts, which is an amount of over 30,000 zlotys. And now I am filing with the District Court in Płock a petition to enforce these 30 million.

The appellate court’s decision is final and not subject to appeal.

Psychiatric Evaluation Ordered for Suspect

On Tuesday, February 10, the Płock District Prosecutor’s Office announced that it would file with the court a petition for Bartosz G. to be sent for psychiatric observation. The experts who examined the 18-year-old recommended observation.

Maja’s father’s representative stated in an interview with ‘Super Express’ that “the investigation is proceeding according to procedure”. The suspect will be sent to a closed center, where he will undergo psychiatric observation on an outpatient basis.

After that, we will wait for the experts’ opinion and I hope that after these opinions and other actions, this will end with an indictment, and Bartosz G. will stand trial.

Background on the Murder Case

Bartosz G. is suspected of murder with particular cruelty. Maja disappeared on April 23 of last year, and as determined by investigators, on that day the 16-year-old met with Bartosz G., who was her acquaintance.

On May 1, the girl’s body was found. A few days earlier, Bartosz G. had left on a school trip to Greece. In December, the 18-year-old was brought to Poland.
