Man Accused of Harassing Children Near Schools Faces Up to Three Years in Prison

Police in Góra Kalwaria, Masovian Voivodeship, arrested a 44‑year‑old earlier this month after reports that he was harassing children near local schools.

Initial Report of Harassment

At the beginning of the month, officers of the Góra Kalwaria Police Station received a report of a man allegedly harassing children near schools in the municipality.

Investigation and Arrest

Police had sparse information: a dark‑colored vehicle and the alleged location of the boy. Within days, they identified the suspect and detained the 44‑year‑old.

The suspect is now under provisional detention pending further investigation.

Charges and Potential Sentence

The suspect was charged under Article 200(4) of the Polish Criminal Code, which penalises sexual misconduct with a minor under 15, punishable by up to three years imprisonment.

Police noted that a preventative liberty‑reduction measure – a police escort – was imposed to safeguard the legal process.

Police Reminders to Parents

The Greater Police Office in Piaseczno urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to report any concerns promptly.

Sexual Violence Statistics

UNICEF data shows that globally approximately 15 million 15‑to‑19‑year‑old girls have experienced sexual violence, yet only 1 % seek professional help, and 80 % develop PTSD.
