Man Arrested for Series of Car Break-ins in Warsaw’s Ursynów District

Police in Warsaw’s Ursynów district arrested a 52-year-old man suspected of breaking into seven cars over five days, and a court has ordered his temporary detention.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest

Police from the Warsaw Ursynów Police Station quickly apprehended a man suspected of a series of car break-ins in the district, thanks to rapid response and effective actions.

Officers identified and detained the suspect while conducting routine patrols and analyzing surveillance footage.

Suspect Apprehended During Patrol

The arrest occurred during a district patrol when officers investigated damage to a parked vehicle on Ursynów. They questioned residents and employees of nearby businesses and reviewed surveillance material.

Officers spotted a man matching the description from the camera footage.

Brief Pursuit and Confession

Upon seeing the police, the man quickened his pace and attempted to leave the area. After a short foot chase, officers apprehended the 52-year-old.

He admitted to fleeing because he realized he had been recognized as the perpetrator of previous incidents.

Seven Charges Filed, Over 12,000 Złoty in Losses

Police gathered sufficient evidence to charge the man with seven counts of breaking into vehicles parked in the district. The suspect committed all the break-ins within a five-day period.

The perpetrator smashed car windows and stole items left inside, including money, a toolbox with power tools, and a wireless speaker. In some cases, the suspect also caused damage to the vehicles while searching them.

The total financial losses to the victims exceed 12,000 Polish złoty.

Three-Month Detention Ordered

At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the suspect to be temporarily detained for three months as a preventative measure.

The crime of burglary carries a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment.

Investigation Ongoing

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Warsaw-Ursynów District Prosecutor’s Office.
