On Sunday, November 16, a Warsaw resident dialed the city guard after discovering about twenty bats nesting in shoes on his balcony at 12 Klaudyny Street.
Bats Seek Shelter in Shoes on Balcony
Witnesses described twenty bats curled together in the shoes, “like tiny plush toys,” seeking warmth from the winter chill.
City Guard Responds to Alarm
The local Ekopatrol unit received an urgent call: “Help, bats on my balcony.” Officers arrived and inspected the shoes highlighted by the caller.
Owner Helps Move Bats
To protect the bats’ sleep, the guards and owner carefully moved the animals without disturbing them, even placing the shoes in a protected area.
Bats Transferred to Forest Sanctuary
The bats were ultimately released into a nearby forest where experts will ensure safe hibernation. The guard noted that a small amount of empathy and a pair of shoes can help nature.
