A man was killed after being struck by a PKP train in Ciechanów on Sunday, February 22, forcing the cancellation of services on the route.
Incident Details
On Sunday, February 22, after 10:00 AM, a tragic incident involving train EIP 4508/9 from Gliwice to Gdynia Główna occurred in the area of the PKP station in Ciechanów.
A man ran under the approaching train – despite the actions taken, he did not survive. The incident occurred at the level of the railway station in Ciechanów, on the railway line leading toward the Tricity area.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including the fire department, were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters helped passengers safely leave the train, which stopped several hundred meters further down, and transfer to another train so they could continue their journey.
Service Disruption
According to the carrier, EIP train no. 4508/9 from Gliwice to Gdynia Główna was canceled on the Ciechanów – Gdynia Główna section.
On the canceled route section, passengers were allowed to travel on EIP train no. 3508/9 from Rzeszów Główny to Gdynia Główna.
Investigation
The circumstances of the entry onto the tracks are being investigated by police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
Actions are underway to determine the full course of the incident.
