A man died Friday evening after entering the tracks near Radzymińska and Naczelnikowskiej streets in Warsaw’s Targówek district.
Incident Details
The tragic incident occurred shortly after 9:50 PM on Friday, March 27th, near a railway crossing in the Targówek district, at the intersection of Radzymińska and Naczelnikowskiej streets.
The man was struck by Kolei Mazowieckich train number 10935, traveling from Warsaw Wileńska to Małkinia, while crossing the tracks outside of a designated pedestrian crossing.
Emergency Response and Fatality
Witnesses described the location as an unofficial crossing. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical professional.
Train Disruption and Passenger Evacuation
Approximately 300 passengers were aboard the train. Following the incident, the train was stopped, and passengers were evacuated to another train. The event caused significant disruptions to rail traffic in the area.
Previous Incidents and Investigation
The railway crossing at Radzymińska Street has been the site of previous fatal incidents involving pedestrians. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
