A man died after running in front of a train on Warsaw’s Rakowiec line Tuesday morning, causing significant railway delays.
Fatal Incident
On Tuesday, January 20, a fatal accident occurred in the area of PKP Warsaw Rakowiec station when a pedestrian ran onto the tracks during morning hours, causing serious disruptions to Mazowieckie Railways and Warsaw’s SKM services.
Emergency services received notification of the incident shortly after 5:00 AM. The accident happened before Warsaw Rakowiec station on the track heading toward Chopin Airport, where the man ran in front of SKM train no. 10800/1. Despite efforts, the man could not be saved.
Railway Disruptions
The delays are due to ongoing emergency services operations at the scene. Warsaw’s Municipal Railway reported that all carriers are experiencing disruptions on the Warsaw Zachodnia – Warsaw Służewiec route.
SKM trains on lines S2, S3, S4, and S40 are facing delays of over 45 minutes in both directions. Some services may be operated on shortened routes or canceled entirely.
Passenger Information
The Warsaw Transport Authority announced mutual acceptance of ZTM-KM tickets has been implemented to accommodate passengers affected by the disruptions.
