MAN Truck & Bus has announced a multi-billion investment in Poland, choosing Małopolska for its new facility that will create over 1,000 jobs.
Decision on Investment Location
On Thursday, January 22, it was confirmed that MAN Truck & Bus has chosen Małopolska in Poland for its major new investment. The company, one of the world’s leading truck manufacturers, had been considering Małopolska, Slovakia, and Germany as potential locations for the project.
The final decision was announced in Niepołomice, where a letter of intent was signed for the investment in the Niepołomicka Investment Zone.
Major Investment Projects
MAN’s investment will consist of two major projects. The first is the construction of an automated plant for producing batteries for electric trucks, with an investment of 3.2 billion PLN. The new facility will be capable of producing up to 200,000 batteries annually and is expected to create 600 jobs.
The second project involves expanding the existing truck factory, with an investment of 2 billion PLN. This expansion will increase production capacity and create an additional 400 jobs.
Strategic Importance
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who attended the signing ceremony, described the plans as “very impressive” and emphasized that this will be a major investment in Poland.
The deputy prime minister highlighted the strategic importance of the investment in achieving supply chain independence for electric batteries, which are currently predominantly manufactured in Asia. “They must be produced in Europe. We must become independent, then we will be truly safe,” he stated.
Dual-Use Project for Military Needs
The announced investment will also benefit the Polish Army. MAN plans to invest an additional 120 million PLN in Starachowice for a new dual-use vehicle production project, creating 100 more jobs.
“The development of special vehicle production and dual-use solutions strengthens security, makes us independent from external suppliers, and builds modern industrial competencies,” said Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship Łukasz Smółka.
MAN’s Longstanding Partnership with Poland
MAN has been a partner of the Polish Army for many years, with the most recent contract for vehicle delivery to the military being completed at the end of December 2025, when 60 MAN TGM 4×2 trucks were ordered.
The company has been associated with Poland since 1993 and currently operates plants in Niepołomice, Starachowice, and Września, employing nearly 7,000 workers in the country.
