Marcin Celejewski appointed president of Grupa Azoty on March 2, 2026, with mandate to lead deep restructuring of European fertilizer giant.
New Leadership Appointed
The Supervisory Board of Grupa Azoty appointed a new XIII term management board on March 2, 2026, appointing Marcin Celejewski as President and Małgorzata Królak as Vice President. Vice Chair of the Supervisory Board Aleksandra Machowicz-Jaworska was delegated to temporarily perform the duties of Vice President for up to three months.
The current management board includes Celejewski as president, with vice presidents Artur Chołody, Małgorzata Królak, Mirosław Ptasiński, acting vice president Aleksandra Machowicz-Jaworska, and board member Artur Babicz.
Restructuring Strategy
The Group announced that the new leadership will begin a phase of “deep restructuring of Grupa Azoty – one of the key players in the European fertilizer and chemical market – focused on rebuilding financial stability, maximizing industrial asset efficiency, and focusing on high-growth segments.”
“Taking the position of president, I treat as an obligation to carry out real restructuring in organizational, operational, and financial dimensions,” said Celejewski. He announced strengthening cost discipline and continuing dialogue with financial institutions to stabilize the debt structure.
Vice President Małgorzata Królak emphasized that streamlining the Group’s structure is a priority, particularly completing the process of exiting the polymer project through arrangement proceedings and negotiations with Orlen.
Leadership Backgrounds
Marcin Celejewski is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and the University of Cambridge. Since January 2026, he has served as president of the plants in Puławy. Previously, he was president of PLL LOT (2015-2016) and PKP Intercity (2014-2015), and director of strategy at Poczta Polska.
Małgorzata Królak is a graduate of SGH and Warsaw University of Technology. Since 2025, she has been president of Grupa Azoty Polyolefins SA, responsible for financial stabilization and bank negotiations. She previously worked at Electromobility Poland and Orlen on key petrochemical investments.
