Marcin Romanowski Located in the Balkans After Leaving Hungary

Sources indicate that former Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Romanowski has been tracked in the Balkans, with Polish “Shadow Hunters” police units pursuing him following his departure from Hungary.

The Hunt in the Balkans

According to sources from the “In connection with the investigation” podcast, Marcin Romanowski has been tracked across the Balkans since leaving Hungary. The MP reportedly visited Serbia twice and Croatia once, with Polish police “Shadow Hunters” currently on his trail.

Polish authorities are receiving assistance from their Hungarian counterparts. Intelligence suggests that Romanowski exited Hungary via Serbia, a path confirmed by signals identified earlier by Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar.

Political Asylum and Shifting Alliances

Both Zbigniew Ziobro and Marcin Romanowski previously secured political asylum in Hungary during Viktor Orbán’s administration. However, following the April parliamentary elections won by TISZA, leader Péter Magyar stated that the PiS politicians would not remain in the country much longer.

On Sunday, May 10, Telewizja Republika reported that Zbigniew Ziobro has relocated to the United States. Ziobro confirmed his presence in the US later that evening, stating he does not intend to hide, though he remained silent regarding Romanowski’s current whereabouts.

An Empty Residence in Budapest

The apartment in Budapest previously rented by Romanowski is now vacant. An employee from the rental firm stated that the lease expired on April 30 and that the property has been empty since May 1.

Romanowski’s legal situation remains precarious. Unlike Ziobro, he is subject to an active European Arrest Warrant, and he has previously been denied a US visa. Reports suggest PiS is actively attempting to secure his passage to the United States.

Legal Foundations for the Search

The pursuit of Romanowski is grounded in a court order for his temporary arrest and a warrant issued by the National Prosecutor’s Office in December 2024.
