Massive Forest Fire in Masovia: Large-Scale Emergency Response Underway

Emergency services are battling a major forest fire in the Wołomin district, where authorities have deployed hundreds of firefighters, police aircraft, and water-dumping assets to contain the rapidly spreading blaze.

Government and Emergency Mobilization

Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed he is in constant contact with the Interior Minister and service chiefs regarding the fire in the Wołomin district. Additional forces are being directed to the site, where a police Black Hawk helicopter and Dromader aircraft are already engaged in suppression efforts.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński reported that 75 vehicles and approximately 400 firefighters from the State and Volunteer Fire Services have been dispatched to the scene. Local officials ordered the evacuation of the village of Ołdakowizna in the Mińsk district as a safety precaution.

Operational Challenges and Tactical Response

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways has blocked National Road 50 between Stanisławów and Łochów, rerouting traffic through local roads and Provincial Road 637. Earlier reports indicated that 65 fire brigades, including specialized companies and operational groups, were involved in the operation.

Police authorities noted that extreme weather, particularly strong wind gusts, allowed the fire to spread rapidly across significant distances. The Black Hawk crew performed 31 water drops, releasing a total of 93,000 liters of water onto the forest before nighttime halted aerial operations.

Water Conservation Urged

The municipal office of Stanisławów has issued an urgent appeal for residents to limit water consumption from the public network. This measure is essential to ensure adequate water pressure for firefighting units actively battling the blaze.
