A large-scale forest fire is currently burning across private land in the Masovian region, prompting an intensive multi-agency response involving specialized aircraft and dozens of firefighting units.
Aerial Operations and Ground Response
Private forest lands are currently ablaze, triggering an immediate deployment of aerial firefighting units and State Forests personnel. The firefighting effort involves two Dromader aircraft and a Black Hawk helicopter.
Police aviation units are working alongside firefighters, utilizing a 3,000-liter Bambi Bucket system to drop water from the air. Operations are currently being hampered by strong wind gusts and challenging environmental conditions.
Containment Efforts and Fire Dynamics
Deputy Interior Minister Wiesław Szczepański confirmed that the blaze has developed into a crown fire, where flames spread across the tops of the trees. Officials are currently attempting to create firebreaks to isolate the burning area from unaffected sections of the forest.
The situation remains critical due to minimal air humidity, high temperatures, and extremely dry forest undergrowth caused by a lack of rainfall. There are currently no reports of casualties or direct threats to nearby residential areas.
Emergency Force Deployment
The fire continues to spread despite the presence of 45 firefighting units on the scene. An operational group from the National Fire Service headquarters has been dispatched to coordinate the response, including specialized platoons from the Mińsk, Węgrów, Legionowo, and Wyszków districts.
