Rapid Escalation in Międzyleś
A significant forest fire began in the village of Międzyleś, located in the Wołomin County, on May 28 shortly after 1:00 PM. Initially reported to cover approximately 2,500 square meters, the flames spread quickly, exacerbated by strong winds.
Emergency Response Intensifies
By 3:50 PM, the fire had engulfed more than 5 hectares of forest, with over 100 firefighters from 26 units on the scene supported by a Dromader firefighting aircraft.
As of 4:40 PM, the operation expanded to include 34 firefighting units from the Wołomin, Mińsk, and Węgrów counties. The suppression effort currently involves two Dromader aircraft and a Black Hawk helicopter equipped with a Bambi Bucket.
Current Status and Containment
The fire remains uncontrolled. Due to challenging weather conditions and the continuous spread of the flames, officials cannot yet determine the final size of the affected area. Ground and air firefighting operations are ongoing.
