Metal Rope Across Road Causes Collision, Injuring Two Men

On 4 Nov at 10:35 in Ciepielew, a metal rope stretched across a public road, tied to a tractor and tree, was struck by a Volkswagen, snapping and hitting two men, who were hospitalized.

Unsecured Rope Across Public Road

On Thursday, 4 November at 10:35, 70‑year‑old and 28‑year‑old men were working on a road in Ciepielew. They used an unmarked steel rope stretched perpendicularly across the public road, with one end attached to a tree and the other to an agricultural tractor.

Car Collision and Rope Detachment

A Volkswagen with a trailer crossing the road struck the steel rope, causing it to break. The trailer detached from the car and then struck the rear of the vehicle.

Injuries and Hospitalization

The detached rope fragment hit both men, inflicting serious leg injuries. Both were transported to hospital and were found sober.

Safety Reminder for Road Work

This accident demonstrates that any work using ropes, chains, or similar devices on public roads must be properly secured and marked. Using metal ropes across a road poses a danger to both road users and workers.
