Military Debris Found in Lublin Region, Poland

Polish military police are investigating debris possibly from a rocket used to intercept a drone in Choiny, Lublin region, on September 18.

The Polish Military Police (Żandarmeria Wojskowa) announced on Thursday, September 18, that they are conducting an operation in Choiny, Lublin region, where remnants of a rocket might be located. The rocket is believed to have been used to shoot down a drone.

A detailed forensic examination of the object is set to take place on September 19, conducted by the Lublin branch of the Żandarmeria Wojskowa, in collaboration with the Military Police’s Forensic Laboratory. The process will be supervised by the Lublin District Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation follows an incident on the night of September 9-10, when several Russian drones entered Polish airspace. Some were intercepted by Polish and allied aircraft. A building in Wyryki, Lublin region, was damaged, with speculation that it might have been hit by a Russian drone or a missile fired by a Polish F-16 fighter jet. The Prosecutor’s Office is still examining the circumstances.
