Minister Declares CPK Name Compromised, Will Be Changed

On Friday, October 31, Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak announced that the Central Communication Port’s name would be changed after declaring the name had been compromised.

Minister Signals Change to CPK

On Friday, October 31, the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, declared that the name of the Central Communication Port (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny) would be changed. He said “the name has been compromised and will be altered because the project itself is changing.”

Rationale Behind the Renaming

Klimczak added that he had originally opposed the project because “we do not centralize Poland.” He further explained that the fallout from the plotland scandal had led to the decision that the name must be dropped, as the project’s focus is strictly political, not an actual infrastructure investment.

Tusk Criticises the Abbreviation

Former President Donald Tusk has said he will no longer use the abbreviation “CPK” after the exposure of a key land sale during the PiS administration: “Today everyone in Poland reads the abbreviation as ‘the whole PiS steals’.”

Discussion About 160‑Hectare Land

Polish Radio reports that a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, will involve the National Agricultural Support Center and Dawtona Vice‑President Piotr Wielgomas regarding the 160‑hectare plot in Zabłotów that the High‑Speed Railway line will cross. The land was sold for 23 million zloty, although its value could rise to around 400 million after rezoning.

Prosecution Investigation into Overreach

The prosecutor’s office has launched a probe into alleged overstepping of powers by KOWR officials following the purchase of the Zabłotów plot by Piotr Wielgomas, who claimed he bought the land as a farmer exercising lawful right of first refusal for a tenant. He also said he was unaware that the property would become part of the CPK plan.
