Polish ministry rejects extending three-month stays at crisis intervention centers in response to MP’s inquiry about domestic violence victims.
Parliamentary Inquiry on Domestic Violence Support
The Polish Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy (MRPiPS) responded to parliamentary inquiry no. 14252 submitted by MP Krystyna Sibińska regarding the need for more effective protection and support for domestic violence victims.
Crisis Intervention Centers and Their Limitations
Victims of domestic violence can seek help at crisis intervention centers (OIK), which can offer them shelter and other services. However, as noted by the MP, the Act of 12 March 2004 on social assistance sets a maximum stay period of three months in these centers.
