Mława Murder: Psychiatric Evaluation of Bartosz G. Concludes

The psychiatric evaluation of Bartosz G., suspected in the murder of 16-year-old Maja from Mława, has ended and the case is now with prosecutors.

Psychiatric Observation Concludes

According to Radio ZET, Bartosz G. underwent psychiatric observation at the Mazowieckie Specialist Health Center named after Prof. Jan Mazurkiewicz in Pruszków (formerly Tworkowski Hospital) starting in mid-March.

The Płock District Prosecutor’s Office requested the evaluation, which was ultimately approved by the court. Experts could have requested an extension of up to four weeks, but determined further observation was unnecessary.

Suspect Transferred to Detention Center

Bartosz G. was still in the hospital as of April 9th. He was scheduled to be transferred to the detention ward of the Płock Prison last week, though neither the hospital nor the prison confirmed his current location to Radio ZET.

Psychiatric Opinion Sent to Prosecutors

The psychiatric opinion will now be submitted to the prosecutor’s office. If Bartosz G. is deemed legally incompetent at the time of the crime, the proceedings may be dismissed and he will be sent to a psychiatric hospital.

Otherwise, he will face criminal charges for the murder of the 16-year-old.

Details of Maja’s Disappearance and Death

16-year-old Maja from Mława (Mazowieckie Voivodeship) disappeared on April 23, 2025, after meeting with 17-year-old Bartosz G. Her mother reported her missing when she did not return home.

Police searches concluded on May 1st, with a cadaver dog leading officers to Maja’s body, hidden in a difficult-to-access location in vegetation near the railway tracks. Police indicated the circumstances suggested murder.

Arrest in Greece

Following the incident, Bartosz G. traveled to Greece with his school classmates. Polish authorities cooperated with Greek services, leading to his arrest in a hotel room.

He reportedly remained calm during the arrest. Despite his age, Bartosz G. faces charges of murder with particular cruelty.
