A 50‑year‑old Mongolian national, wanted in Mongolia for leading a criminal syndicate, was seized in Warsaw after police matched him to a suspect in a city flat using forged passports.
Interpol Red Notice
Polish police of the Capital Search and Identification Division arrested a Mongolian citizen after Interpol issued a red notice—a global man‑hunt alert—requesting his arrest and extradition.
Search Operation
The investigation was carried out by officers of the Central Police Command’s Search and Identification Division. They believed the 50‑year‑old was hiding in a flat in Warsaw’s Śródmieście district.
When officers arrived at the location, they identified a man who matched the description of the suspect on the Interpol notice.
Forged Travel Papers
During identity verification officials discovered that the man held a counterfeit Mongolian passport and a falsified Spanish residence permit. The documents lacked any genuine watermarks, stamps, or official seals.
His surname did not appear in any police information systems, further indicating the falsity of his identity documentation.
Arrest and Evidence
He admitted to using the internet to purchase forged documents because he knew he was wanted.
Police arrested him and found several ATM cards in his possession, whose ownership could not be explained. In the flat, they also seized expired Polish temporary residence cards.
Extradition Process
After detention, he was transferred to the prosecutor’s office to initiate extradition proceedings, in accordance with the Interpol red notice’s requirements for arrest and hand‑over.
