Podcast Interview on November 18
On 18 November, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appeared as a guest on Grzegorz Sroczyński’s Gazeta.pl podcast. He discussed potential coalition partners, the judiciary, and other political matters.
Cooperation with Tusk and Braun Discussed
Morawiecki acknowledged that a partnership between PiS and Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform was conceivable. He noted that he had previously invited Tusk and other opposition leaders to talks, including meetings at ministerial and prime‑ministerial levels, even though no war had yet broken out.
Potential National Unity Government in War Scenario
He explained that if a war with Russia erupted, he envisioned forming a national unity government that would bring all parties together, similar to the coalition of 1920. He said that in times of peace he had already shown readiness for such a step, implying a stronger capacity during conflict.
Russian Hybrid Warfare Threat Highlighted
Ursula von der Leyen, during a speech in Strasbourg, warned that Russia was waging a hybrid war against EU member states, targeting airspace, undersea cables, airports and logistics centers, and employing cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns. She urged the Union to respond decisively and prepare strategic defence capabilities, while noting recent sabotage acts by Ukrainian citizens collaborating with Russian intelligence in Poland.
