Morawiecki Says He Would Join Tusk in a National Unity Government if War Breaks Out

Former Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki said he had discussed a joint governing arrangement with Lech Tusk during crises and would do so again under a war with Russia.

Former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki said he and opposition leader Lech Tusk had discussed forming a national unity government if Poland entered war with Russia. He recalled inviting Tusk and opposition leaders during his premiership to achieve a common approach.

Earlier Talks During Multiple Crises

Morawiecki noted that the two had held several meetings in ministerial and premiership capacities during COVID‑19 and the Ukrainian conflict, which were not formally wars in Poland, and that those talks had taken place in the KPRM. He added that if such cooperation was possible in peacetime, it could be done in wartime.

General Kukuła Calls Poland “Pre‑War” State

General Wiesław Kukuła said that Poland is currently in a “pre‑war” situation, as an adversary is preparing for war and trying to undermine trust in government, the armed forces, and police to create conditions favourable for an aggression on Polish territory.
