A 38-year-old woman died in Kępno hospital after inhaling toxic gases during a house fire in Myjomice where her 11-year-old son also perished.
Fatal Fire at Myjomice Home
A 38-year-old woman died in the night of January 16-17 in a hospital in Kępno (Wielkopolskie province) due to poisoning from gases during a fire. The incident was reported by the Polish Press Agency, cited by “NaszDziennik”.
Photovoltaic Installation Fault
Preliminary findings indicate the fire was caused by a failure in the photovoltaic installation. Additionally, there were no smoke detectors in the house.
Rescue Attempt
The fire broke out before 3:00 PM on Friday at a single-family house on Jeżynowa Street in Myjomice (Kępni County). The parents evacuated their one and four-year-old children but the 11-year-old disabled boy remained inside. The mother attempted to save him but both lost consciousness as the fire rapidly intensified.
Emergency Response
Firefighters evacuated the unconscious woman and child, immediately attempting resuscitation. The woman was transported to a hospital, but despite efforts, the child’s life could not be saved. The circumstances and causes of the fire are being investigated by appropriate services, with an investigation launched by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kępno.
