Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Collision with Citroen Van in Warsaw

A motorcycle and a Citroen van collided on May 4th near the intersection of Kopińska, Wawelska, and Grójecka streets in Warsaw, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist.

Collision Details

On Monday, May 4th, before 2:00 PM, a Honda motorcycle collided with a Citroen delivery van at the intersection of Kopińska, Wawelska, and Grójecka streets in Warsaw’s Ochota district. Paramedics provided initial treatment to the injured motorcyclist before transporting them to a hospital.

Initial findings suggest the van driver was traveling on Grójecka Street from the Okęcie direction and turning left onto Kopińska Street while the motorcyclist was proceeding straight on Grójecka Street towards Okęcie.

Right-of-Way Dispute

Investigators determined both drivers had a green light. The collision occurred when the van driver, while turning left, allegedly failed to yield to the motorcyclist traveling straight. The van driver stated that a tram departing from a stop obstructed their view.

Injuries and Traffic Disruption

The motorcyclist sustained fractures to their arms and legs and was taken to the hospital after receiving on-site medical attention. The accident caused traffic disruptions, blocking straight passage from Wawelska Street to Kopińska Street and along Grójecka Street towards Okęcie.

The van driver actively assisted during the rescue operation.

Police Investigation

Following the initial emergency response, police continued the investigation at the scene, documenting the incident with photographs and measurements to determine the precise sequence of events.
