Local governments submit second decentralization package to ministry amid power struggles.
New Decentralization Package Submitted
Local government representatives have submitted “Package 2.0 – Decentralization of the State and Restoration of Competencies of Territorial Self-Government Units” to the Ministry of Internal and Administrative Affairs. This occurred during the latest meeting of the Government and Territorial Self-Government Commission (KWRiST).
The demands were justified by local authorities in a 50-page document. Specific details from this document are presented below. The fate of the initial deregulation package, however, remains unknown.
Ministry Reluctant to Cede Powers
Representatives from the Ministry of Internal and Administrative Affairs do not conceal that their departments are not eager to transfer competencies to local authorities.
