Murder in Tczew: Police Detain Victim’s Son

Police discovered the body of a 43-year-old woman in a Tczew apartment on Sunday, June 7, leading to the detention of her 19-year-old son as the primary suspect in the investigation.

Discovery of the body

On Sunday, June 7, shortly before 2:00 PM, police received a report regarding the discovery of a 43-year-old woman’s body in a Tczew apartment. Investigative units were dispatched to the scene, operating under the supervision of a prosecutor.

Local reporters noted that there was no history of police intervention at this address, though traces of blood were visible in the stairwell at the time of the discovery.

Suspect in custody

Police have detained a 19-year-old man in connection with the case. According to reports from the local news outlet TCZ.pl, the suspect is the son of the deceased.

At the time of his arrest, the 19-year-old was reportedly highly agitated, potentially indicating the influence of intoxicating substances, and required four officers to secure him. Toxicology tests have been ordered to clarify his state.

Investigation and autopsy

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Tczew opened a murder investigation on Monday under Article 148, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of 10 years to life imprisonment.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Department of Forensic Medicine in Gdańsk. Following the preliminary medical report, prosecutors intend to conduct formal procedural steps with the suspect. As of now, no formal charges have been filed.
