A 14-year-old Ukrainian girl was found dead in her Kępno apartment; a 24-year-old man has been charged with her murder.
Charges Filed Against 24-Year-Old
On Friday evening (January 30), a 24-year-old man was formally charged with murder. According to Marcin Kubiak from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski, the man was charged under Article 148 Paragraph 1 of the Penal Code for depriving a 14-year-old of life by suffocation. The suspect remains in custody, with further proceedings planned for January 31.
Body Discovered in Apartment
Thursday morning (January 29), the body of a 14-year-old Ukrainian girl was found in the hallway of an apartment on a Cooperative housing estate in Kępno, Greater Poland Voivodeship. The teenager lived there with her mother, who was reportedly at work at the time of the incident.
Circumstances of Discovery
Emergency services entered the apartment after neighbors reported water was leaking from it. It was discovered that one of the taps had been left open. Although there were no visible signs of violence on the girl’s body, an autopsy determined that the cause of death was suffocation.
Suspect’s Connection to Victim
Media reports, citing “Super Express,” suggest a connection between the 24-year-old suspect and the victim’s mother. However, investigators have not yet confirmed this relationship. Police Chief Inspector Andrzej Borowiak confirmed that the man knew the girl’s mother and had been in their apartment, though it remains unconfirmed if he was present just before the body was discovered.
