Bartosz G., suspected of killing a 16-year-old girl in Mława, remains in Greek custody as his extradition case faces further delays.
New Details on Bartosz G.’s Extradition
Bartosz G., accused of murdering a 16-year-old in Mława, is currently detained in Greece. A Greek court is reviewing his extradition to Poland. During the latest hearing, the court postponed proceedings for 40 days to allow Polish authorities to address potential documentation gaps. This is yet another delay in the case, as the initial decision was expected in July but was postponed to September.
Lawyer Wojciech Kasprzyk, representing the victim’s family, told “Kanał Kryminalny Extra” that he is surprised the formal deficiencies were only mentioned now, as no objections were raised in previous hearings. “This is a curious situation. If something was indeed missing, why wasn’t it reported earlier? We are witnessing a delay in the case, which may be the result of actions by both Bartosz G.’s defense and the Greek justice system,” he said.
Family’s Frustration Over Delays
The lawyer added that the Greek court’s decision has left the victim’s family in uncertainty. “We are waiting and hoping the matter will be resolved as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we are entirely dependent on the Greek justice system’s decision,” he said. The victim’s father also spoke out, expressing his exhaustion. “We are running out of strength. This situation is draining us because we truly don’t understand why it’s being prolonged. What are the reasons? What’s happening? I want justice, and this is taking too long in my opinion,” he told “Kanał Kryminalny Extra.”
The Murder of a 16-Year-Old in Mława
On April 23, media reported the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl from Mława (Mazowieckie Voivodeship). Investigators determined she was supposed to meet 17-year-old Bartosz G. that day. When she didn’t return home, her family grew concerned. The search lasted until May 1. “A police dog indicated the location where the girl’s body was found. The teenager’s body was hidden in a hard-to-reach area, in bushes near railway tracks,” said underinspector Katarzyna Kucharska, a spokesperson for the Regional Police Command in Radom. Investigators confirmed the girl’s death was caused by a third party. Suspicion immediately fell on Bartosz G., as he was the last person she was supposed to meet. However, it turned out he had traveled to Greece with classmates. Authorities collaborated with Greek services, leading to his arrest in a hotel room. On May 28, permission for his extradition to Poland was granted. However, his defense filed an appeal against the decision, and the case remains ongoing.
