Mysterious disappearance of Anin priest; police find car, search continues

Police have been searching for 44‑year‑old priest Mark Wodawski since he vanished on Nov. 7, 2025, after leaving his Warsaw‑Anin apartment.

Disappearance Occurs on Nov. 7

Capital police have been searching for 44‑year‑old priest Mark Wodawski of the Mother of Warsaw‑Anin parish since he left his apartment on Białowieska Street in Prague‑South on the evening of November 7, 2025, and has not yet contacted family or colleagues.

According to police and diocesan reports, he departed his Białowieska apartment around 7:30 p.m. and has not returned to the parsonage, appeared at work, or contacted loved ones.

Priest’s Background and Role

Dr Mark Wodawski, a member of the Little Brothers of the Conventual Order, has served as the parish resident in Anin for about two years. He also works academically at the Institute of Sociology Sciences of the Catholic University of Lublin, merging pastoral duties with scholarly activity.

He was described as responsible, dedicated to helping others, and valued by parishioners for his homily style.

Vehicle Found but No Clues

Police said the priest might have left in a grey or light sand‑colored Skoda Fabia from 2015 with registration WPI 40909. National media report the car was found at a construction site in Prague‑South at the end of November.

It was locked, secured, and inspected before being handed to his family; no signs of criminal activity were found inside, and locating the car did not break the case.

Search Efforts and Parish Response

The Warsaw VII Police District Command is conducting intensive searches, publishing the priest’s photograph and description in public spaces. The Warsaw‑Praga Diocese has appealed for help locating him and requests prayers on his behalf.

Masses for his sake are held at the Anin parish, and parishioners receive regular updates on the authorities’ actions.

Family and Public Appeals

The family has repeatedly spoken, saying the disappearance is shocking and incomprehensible. They emphasize that Father Mark was responsible and dedicated to helping others and request focus on finding him.

Police urges anyone with information on the priest’s whereabouts to contact the Warsaw VII District Police Command at Grenadiers Street during 8:00‑16:00 at 47 723 76 30, 24 h at 47 723 76 55, or via emergency 112 or nearest police station. Every piece of information, even seemingly trivial, could matter, and searches will continue until he is found.
