Mysterious Tab on Patient Portal: Claim Free Medical Referrals Before They Disappear

Polish adults can access free health screenings through the ‘My Health’ program on the National Patient Portal, but the access window is limited.

Who Is Eligible for the Free Health Check?

The program is exclusively available to adults aged 40-75. Participation frequency depends on age: every 4 years for those 40-49, every 2 years for 50-59, and annually for 60-75. Those who previously participated in the ‘Profilaktyka 40 PLUS’ program can join ‘Moje Zdrowie’ after a 12-month gap from their last tests.

Understanding the ‘My Health’ Program

‘Moje Zdrowie’ is not a single test but a comprehensive adult health assessment. The program combines basic medical examinations with diagnostic tests aimed at detecting chronic diseases early, such as cardiovascular issues, diabetes, thyroid disorders, kidney diseases, and certain cancers.

How to Enroll: The First Step

Participation begins by filling out a short questionnaire, which can be completed online via the National Patient Portal, at a primary care clinic, or by phone. The questionnaire includes questions about health history, lifestyle, and risk factors. Based on the responses, the system indicates the required diagnostic tests. The questionnaire must be completed once.

Types of Available Health Screenings

The scope of tests is tailored to age, gender, and risk factors. Participants may receive a basic package including blood tests, urinalysis, blood pressure measurement, and more. Extended tests, such as liver function tests, PSA for men, or lipoprotein(a) measurements, may also be available based on individual needs. The clinic has up to 30 days to analyze the questionnaire and issue test orders.

Post-Screening: Follow-Up Visit and Health Plan

After completing the ordered tests, patients are invited for a follow-up visit. During this meeting, results are discussed, and an individual health plan is created. The plan includes recommendations for further diagnostics, lifestyle changes, vaccinations, and a schedule for future preventive and oncological screenings.

Why Participate in Preventive Health Screenings?

Experts emphasize that many chronic diseases develop asymptomatically for years. Regular health check-ups increase the chances of early detection when treatment is most effective. The ‘My Health’ program encourages adults to monitor their health proactively, not just when symptoms appear.
