Polish President Nawrocki and Foreign Minister Sikorski appear amused in recent photos despite ongoing political tensions.
Surprising Photos Show Amusement
Media published unusual photographs of Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski showing them laughing together. The photos indicate that the politicians were clearly amused and comfortable in each other’s presence, according to the Fakt newspaper.
Ongoing Political Tensions
Despite the friendly photos, tensions have frequently arisen between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidential Palace. On December 2, Sikorski criticized Nawrocki on social media, accusing him of attacking the EU and Ukraine instead of addressing important diplomatic matters.
Reciprocal Criticism
In response, Nawrocki described Sikorski as having a “short fuse” and being unable to handle pressure. During a December interview with Wirtualna Polska, Nawrocki also referred to former Prime Minister Donald Tusk as “the worst prime minister after 1989.”
Upcoming Diplomatic Meeting
Presidential International Policy Bureau head Marcin Przydacz announced that Nawrocki will meet with Sikorski on January 26 at 2:00 PM to discuss ambassadorial appointments. Przydacz noted that many Polish foreign missions currently lack fully accredited ambassadors.
