Polish President Nawrocki spoke with Prime Minister Tusk about joining a US-led Peace Council for Gaza.
Presidential Spokesperson Confirms Invitation
Presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz confirmed on Republika TV that President Nawrocki received an invitation from Donald Trump to join the Peace Council. “The president has not yet made any decision. Above all, he is acting very responsibly because he is cooperating with the government in this matter,” said Leśkiewicz.
The president has sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking an opinion on the formal aspects of joining the Peace Council, with a decision expected soon.
Peace Council Purpose and Composition
The Peace Council will oversee the activities of the temporary “Palestinian technocratic government” in the Gaza Strip and help resolve other conflicts worldwide.
The council will be chaired by Donald Trump and include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, US President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, American businessman Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Trump advisor Robert Gabriel.
Global Invitations Extended
Approximately 60 countries, including China, Russia, Germany, France, and Ukraine, have received invitations to join the Peace Council.
International Policy Office head Marcin Przydacz announced the discussions during a briefing at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 20.
