In September, Polish President Karol Nawrocki was reportedly given around 20 gifts by businessman Rafał Brzoska and his wife Omeną Mensah, sparking a probe by Watchdog Poland and a forthcoming administrative court case.
Gifts from Brzoska
Gazeta Wyborcza reported that Brzoska’s wife, Omeną Mensah, allegedly brought about 20 items for the president, his wife, and children during a visit in September.
Watchdog’s Call for Transparency
Watchdog Polska sought details about the meeting, the gifts, and the attendees. Presidential officials denied having the requested information and urged visitors to consult the president’s public calendar and entry log.
Official Response
Justyna Komorek, acting PR adviser to Mensah, claimed only three modest packages were delivered, containing symbolic souvenirs such as puzzles and small items from Ghana, home of the Omenaa Foundation.
Public Reaction
Watchdog’s spokesman Szymon Osowski criticized the vague reply, calling for a public registry of presidential gifts and a clearer online disclosure system.
