Nawrocki-Orbán Meeting Draws More Criticism Than Support

A poll following Karol Nawrocki’s visit to Budapest reveals nearly 45% of respondents view the meeting negatively, with significant partisan divides.

Poll Results: Negative Sentiment Dominates

A total of 44.7% of respondents assessed Karol Nawrocki’s visit to Viktor Orbán negatively, with 28.2% expressing a decidedly negative opinion and 16.5% leaning negative.

36.5% of those surveyed viewed the meeting positively, broken down into 21.4% decidedly positive and 15.1% rather positive. 18.9% of respondents remain undecided.

Ruling Coalition Voters Heavily Critical

Voters aligned with the ruling coalition are the most critical of the visit, with 91% evaluating the meeting with Orbán negatively. No respondents from this group offered a decidedly positive assessment, while 5% leaned positive.

PiS Voters Largely Supportive

Among voters of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, 83% perceive the meeting between Nawrocki and Orbán as positive. 6% of PiS voters rated it decidedly negative, and 1% rather negative.

Survey Methodology

The survey was conducted by United Surveys for IBRiS on behalf of Wirtualna Polska between March 27-29, 2026, with a sample size of 1000 individuals using CAWI (computer-assisted web interviewing) and CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing) methods.

Sikorski Criticizes Impact on Foreign Policy

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Nawrocki’s visit to Hungary and meeting with Prime Minister Orbán harmed Polish foreign policy.

Sikorski characterized the visit as unusual, noting that for the President of Poland, an equal partner is another president.

Hungarian Elections: Opposition Leads in Polls

Parliamentary elections in Hungary are scheduled for April 12th. The main opposition party, TISZA, currently leads Fidesz in most independent polls.

A March survey by Median showed TISZA with 58% support, compared to 35% for Fidesz. A recent poll by 21 Research Center indicated 56% support for TISZA and 37% for Fidesz.
