Polish President Karol Nawrocki was served a dirty limo during a state visit to Latvia, sparking criticism from MP Bartosz Arłukowicz and a rebuke from Poland’s foreign ministry.
Nawrocki’s Visit & Dirty Limousine: ‘It Could Have Been Checked Earlier’
Polish MP Bartosz Arłukowicz accused the President’s office of neglecting vehicle hygiene after the limousine arrived visibly grimy. He noted that earlier inspection could have prevented the condition.
Arłukowicz, who manages a specific group of aides rather than the official presidential office, asserted that his staff maintain a relatively clean car and urged the official office to assume responsibility for vehicle cleanliness.
Ambassador Sends Dirty Car
Photos of the dirty limousine circulated on social media after the vehicle was left in front of the Polish embassy in Riga on Thursday.
Law and Justice Party MP Szymon Szynkowski condemned the embassy for failing to acknowledge the President’s visit and for dispatching an unclean vehicle, a claim repeated by right‑wing portal wPolityke.pl.
Foreign Ministry: Host State Provides Transport
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maciej Wiewiór dismissed the allegation, stating that the transport was supplied by the host state and that the story lacked factual basis.
Vice‑Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski further explained that continuous rain in Latvia and the absence of a car wash at Riga airport meant the limousine could not be cleaned on site.
