Polish President Karol Nawrocki highlighted successful cooperation with Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk on labor inspection law, while also voicing frustration with limitations placed on Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Collaboration with the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy
Karol Nawrocki emphasized that his assessment of relationships isn’t about “getting along,” but about collaboration on specific projects. He recently had a positive experience working with Minister Dziemianowicz-Bąk regarding the Act on the State Labour Inspectorate.
The President underscored that he signed the Act on the State Labour Inspectorate despite political costs and criticism from the right wing. He made the decision after discussions and analysis of arguments, including those presented by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy.
Nawrocki stated that he considered the law beneficial, despite potential burdens for entrepreneurs. He also noted that he took into account the position of Solidarność, which later changed during the legislative process. He believes the law is a good solution for Poland, even with some burdens on businesses.
Cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence
Karol Nawrocki also discussed relations with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. He acknowledged that security matters require a special approach, and joint actions are being pursued in this area.
However, he expressed regret over the lack of autonomy afforded to the Minister of National Defence. He believes more could be achieved with Kosiniak-Kamysz if he had greater freedom in his decisions, but despite this limitation imposed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, some things are still being done jointly.
Ongoing Dialogue with Other Political Groups
Nawrocki pointed to the ceremonies for general nominations and work on the national security strategy as examples of this cooperation. He announced that the document will be ready in the coming weeks after completion of work at the Ministry of National Defence and the Bureau for National Security.
The President also noted that the Presidential Palace is open to discussions with other political groups. He mentioned a good, substantive discussion with MPs from Polska 2050, who explained solutions contained in laws that raised his concerns. He emphasized that he listens to arguments from various sides before making key decisions.
He recalled a particularly good conversation with Polska 2050 MPs who intervened regarding their legislation and clarified points that concerned him.
Political Considerations Ahead of Elections
The article also briefly mentions the dilemmas facing Tusk and Czarzasty before the elections, specifically regarding a potential joint list. A joint start with Civic Coalition could dissuade New Left from a list with Razem, preventing a weakening of the democratic camp as seen in previous elections.
