Nawrocki to Meet Sikorski on January 26; Ambassadorial Nominations on Agenda

President Karol Nawrocki will meet with Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski at the Presidential Palace on January 26 to discuss ambassadorial nominations.

Meeting Details Confirmed

On Wednesday, January 14, Marcin Przydacz informed journalists about the upcoming meeting between President Karol Nawrocki and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. The meeting is scheduled for January 26 at 14:00 at the Presidential Palace.

Ambassadorial Appointments to Be Discussed

President Nawrocki will discuss ambassadorial nominations with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Przydacz noted that many Polish foreign missions currently have diplomats in the rank of charge d’affaires instead of ambassadors, which he described as not an optimal situation.

Issues with Polish Ambassador to the USA

According to an informant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a significant problem for Polish diplomacy is the lack of a full-fledged ambassador to the USA. This situation is expected to complicate coordination for the upcoming G20 summit in Miami in December.

The informant also noted that relations between the US and Donald Tusk’s government have improved, with new US Ambassador to Poland Thomas Rose having found common ground with Sikorski, similar to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Trump administration reportedly recognizes Poland’s parliamentary system and understands they will need to negotiate with the Polish government for the next two years.
