Nearly 5 Million for PiS. Now Former Orlen Foundation President ‘Faces Consequences’

Warsaw prosecutors seized assets worth 3.03 million zł from former Orlen Foundation president Katarzyna R. amid a 4.695 million zł embezzlement probe.

Asset Seizure

On February 13, Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office secured property belonging to Katarzyna R.—who led Orlen Foundation under Daniel Obajtek—to satisfy potential restitution claims. Assets include three Warsaw apartments (32.5 m², 51 m², 102 m²) and a plot near Warsaw, valued at 3.03 million zł.

Discrepancy in Funds

The seized value is less than the 4.695 million zł loss sustained by the Foundation. Prosecution documents indicate Katarzyna R. could forfeit all assets, including her primary residence.

Political Campaign Funding

New Orlen leadership reported the fraud after discovering charitable funds financed PiS’s 2023 election campaign. Money officially went to the “Citizenship Academy” project via the Lublin-based Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski Foundation, whose board included PiS officials and Czarnek associates.

Defense of Katarzyna R.

A source claims Katarzyna R. “always acted honestly,” signing documents under pressure that “everything would be fine.” She now “faces consequences and feels abandoned,” they stated.
