An entire Netto building on Piaskowa Street in Grodzisk Mazowiecki erupted into flames at 1:44 a.m. Wednesday, November 5 2025, drawing more than 15 fire crews to the scene.
Fire Outbreak and Spread
At approximately 1:44 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5 2025, a fire broke out at the Netto store on Piaskowa Street in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. The blaze engulfed a large portion of the building, roughly 60 by 30 meters. By about 3 a.m., the fire had been located and active firefighting efforts were underway.
Emergency Response
“Over 15 fire crews, about 60 firefighters, and an operational group from the Voivodeship PSP Command in Warsaw were dispatched. Piaskowa Street is completely blocked. Firefighting operations may continue for several more hours,” stated Press Officer Rafał Łyszkowski, deputy commander of the county State Fire Service.
Structural Damage
The roof collapsed during the incident. Nearby residents reported hearing explosions accompanying the spreading fire. The causes and circumstances of the blaze are currently unknown; police investigators will conduct further inquiries.
Current Firefighting Operations
Firefighters are focusing on monitoring the burn area, extinguishing remaining embers, and assessing the stability of burned structural elements. The site has been secured, and access is maintained through a corridor designated by police.
Ongoing Investigation
Investigators have just begun work at Piaskowa to definitively identify the source of the current fire. Earlier similar incidents at Netto stores—including fires in Warsaw several years ago and in Czechowice‑Dziedzice in August 2025—were linked to electrical arcs.
