Transport Police named a 32‑year‑old Peterborough resident as the lone suspect after a knife attack on a train from Doncaster to London on the night of November 1.
He was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody. A second individual, a 35‑year‑old Londoner of Caribbean descent, was briefly detained but later released with no further action.
Hero Among Train Crew
An LNER employee attempted to restrain the attacker and was severely wounded, remaining in the hospital in a life‑threatening condition.
Five other injured passengers were later discharged home. Surveillance footage shows the crew member acting heroically and likely saving many lives.
