New regulations allow counting contract work, self-employment, and foreign work towards seniority for faster access to extended leave and bonuses.
Expanded Seniority Calculation
Regulations introduced this year allow counting towards general employment tenure periods that were previously excluded: time spent working on contract, providing services, running your own business, or working abroad for pay.
This change directly translates to faster acquisition of rights to longer vacation leave or anniversary bonuses.
Public Sector First, All Workers Starting May
For now, the new regulations only apply to employers in the public sector.
Starting in May, they will apply to all employers.
Calm Before the Storm
So far, there have been few applications for recalculation of seniority.
