Newborn Found in Safe Haven in Kartuzy, Poland—Third Since 2014

Police in Kartuzy, Poland, reported the discovery of a newborn boy in a “window of life” early Saturday morning, marking the third such case since 2014.

Newborn Discovered by Nuns

Kartuzy police received a report shortly before 1:00 AM Saturday that nuns had found a baby in the “window of life.”

Baby Hospitalized, in Good Condition

The newborn was transported to the Kartuzy County Health Center. Police report the boy is in good health, well-cared for, and adequately nourished.

No signs of physical abuse were observed.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities state that leaving the child in the window of life did not endanger him, meaning the parent is not currently facing legal repercussions.

However, police are continuing to investigate the circumstances.

Third Child Left at Kartuzy Safe Haven

This is the third child to be left at the Kartuzy “window of life,” which has been operating since 2014. The initiative was launched by the Kartuzy Caritas Center.

The safe haven is located at the building of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Vincent a Paulo at 12 Gdańska Street.

Hospital Director Dismissed

The director of Grochowski Hospital has been dismissed following anonymous complaints from employees detailing accusations spanning ten pages, according to a report on Wyborcza.pl.
