NFZ to Suspend Clinic Payments Over E-Registration Compliance by July 2026

Poland’s National Health Fund (NFZ) will suspend payments to clinics failing to comply with centralized e-registration, full enforcement starting July 1, 2026.

Key Dates and Deadlines

Centralized e-registration (CeR) operates from January 2026, but becomes financially binding from June 2026. Clinics must submit complete visit schedules—both free and occupied—to the central system by May 31, 2026. Failure to comply risks NFZ payment suspension from June 1.

From July 1, 2026, NFZ will only fund services registered in the system per regulations. Unreported visits or non-compliant data may lead to payment deductions.

Scope of Centralized E-Registration

CeR replaces fragmented clinic-specific waiting lists, initially covering selected specialist services financed by public funds. The Ministry of Health plans gradual expansion of covered specialties.

Financial Implications for Clinics

Clinics face risks of cash flow disruptions if delays occur in updating software, training staff, or monitoring data compliance. Each visit must be logged before or on the day it occurs, except for emergencies or central system failures.

Impact on Patient Experience

While CeR aims to unify and transparently manage waiting lists, it does not inherently reduce wait times—this depends on available specialist numbers. Patients may experience more standardized booking processes and easier appointment cancellations.
